Sarah has over 14 years’ experience in the marine science sector. She holds a PhD in Marine Microbiology with a focus on harmful algal and a BSc in Marine Science from NUI Galway. Sarah also spent 5 years at the University of Texas where she was engaged with oil spill research in the Gulf of Mexico. During her academic career, she participated in many offshore scientific expeditions and coastal surveys. The communication of the scientific results from these research surveys played a key role in the projects and Sarah engaged with various audiences across Europe and the Southern US. During time in the US, Sarah also gained project coordination experience in the area of aquaculture facility development. She now carries out communication, dissemination and stakeholder activities for the Horizon 2020 project AQUAEXCEL3.0.
